This popular Wollongong cafe, was struggling to keep up with client demand, needing to expand into the newly acquired neighbouring premises. With an ethos of good healthy food, Sandy Goodwich Cafe wanted to start up cooking classes, and large communal dinners. The design program was simple; allow for adaptable spaces, plenty of room to display their home made conserves and jams, and keep the budget as minimal as possible. The Cafe needed both a day time and night time presence, within a contemporary, but down to earth approach. Taking this onboard, a flexible plan was created where varying furniture types and heights defined ‘rooms’ within the larger space. A striking, central service bar using basic, and recycled materials orients, and grounds the various spaces
